Sweet Sensitivity

Brad Werner

In my travels as a spiritual seeker, I have run across some interesting experiences. Many of these experiences are by their very nature subtle and esoteric. Please allow me to attempt to convey a bit of my experiences with Sat Nam Rasayan. I am but a novice, yet perhaps I can introduce you as a novice and we can learn together.

Sat Nam Rasayan could be roughly translated to English as “true identity rays of the sun.” The true name or identity of you, or your spirit is what is involved here. Also involved is energy which is as pervasive as the rays of the sun, and which is divine and sustains life, like the rays of the sun. When I first heard the term Sat Nam Rasayan, I naively thought that it sounded like a Kundalini yoga version of Reiki. I have learned one or two things since then.

Duality

The rays of the sun shine on all heavenly bodies in our solar system. Now that I’ve mentioned that, your mind may be finding exceptions to that rule. What of the dark side of the moon? What about night time on Earth? What of shadows beneath a tree or on the shady side of a mountain?

Sat Nam Rasayan deals with the duality of darkness and light. The intention of the Sat Nam Rasayan practictioner is to remove resistances which occlude or block the flow of divine light.

Healing

By dissolving resistances to the flow of light, the practitioner allows the nature of the light to shine on the subject. The subject of this intent is usually a client who seeks the practitioner’s assistance in finding the divine light for the purposes of healing.

We all can learn to find the light. Sometimes in life we could use the assistance of a guide. A practitioner of Sat Nam Rasayan acts as a guide to help you dissolve your resistances to the light.

Why Learn Sat Nam Rasayan?

Are people who dedicate themselves as healing professionals the only ones who can benefit from learning this divine tool? No. Yet those who do learn its methods to help others benefit directly. Practitioners of Sat Nam Rasayan dissolve resistances within themselves during the practice.

In the general sense, Sat Nam Rasayan is a form of meditation which enhances awareness and sensitivity. When you open the sensitive space about you and the subject/client, you become aware of resistances. These resistances may be tendencies or other blocks which limit the true health of the client. We create blocks within our lives to limit our view, to create shadows from the light so that the world seems simple, less scary, and more comfortable. But by hiding from the light we limit our vision of the whole world of existence as well — we limit our possibilities to be and live well.

What’s Beyond the Sensitive?

Reaching the sensitive space may take several minutes of focused meditation. Yet the sensitive space is but a tool in the quest for the divine. Beyond the sensitive space lies the more subtle sacred space. It could take months or years of practice in the sensitive space before a practitioner reaches the sacred space, and yet it may still be elusive with each session. Using deep meditation to transcend the duality of the sensitive space, the sacred space unfolds like a beautiful flower. You are not separate from it, nor is the client separate from you or the space. The sacred space is not separate from the sensitive space — just more subtle, overlooked, forgotten. Open your heart, open your mind, and let the light shine.

Sat Nam Rasayan is an ancient art which is being rediscovered and explored. It was traditionally passed down from generation to generation to select Kundalini yoga teachers. Yogi Bhajan, the Mahan Tantric, asked one of his students, Guru Dev Singh, to spread the message of Sat Nam Rasayan throughout the world.

Several Sat Nam Rasayan centers and resource groups are now available. A good book on Sat Nam Rasayan that I have come across is one by Ambrosio Espinosa, with more hopefully coming soon.
