Energy Healing

What is energy healing? What does it do? How does it work?

As an energy body worker, these are some of the most common questions that I am asked. I am a practitioner of CranioSacral Therapy, Somato Emotional Release and certified in Jin Shin Jyutsu. My experience has shown me how emotions affect our physical health. We have all heard how stress can adversely affect us. In the Oriental energy healing process, the belief is that dis-ease is caused by blocked energy in the body resulting from stress. Much of my practice is focused on helping my clients become aware of, work on, and heal the emotional issues affecting their health.

During a CranioSacral therapy session on a fully clothed person, the therapist’s hands gently touch various accupressure points as taught in Jin Shin Jyutsu, a Japanese healing art. This type of session brings about a profound feeling of relaxation, which in itself is healing. In this state of deep relaxation the body is more responsive to self-healing.

A body is made up of energy pathways that flow unobstructed when we are happy and in good emotional and physical health. However, life, with its conflicts and challenges, often interferes with this idyllic state causing obstructions in our energy flow, which, if ignored and/or buried, over time can result in physical problems. Changing our thinking, therefore, can change our body energy. Optimism and a sense of well-being can help us escape destructive thinking and guide us back to cheerfulness and enthusiasm. Mankind’s goodness creates joy, as does forgiveness and patience, which help to keep the energy flowing and the pathways open.

Unhappiness, on the other hand, causes blocks to the flow of energy. It dams up the energy flow and causes congestion in the energy pathways. For example, when we let unhappiness creep into our consciousness, the flow of energy is blocked, causing our behavior and outlook to be stuck in the lowest “instinctive” levels of behavior. Loving ourselves, as well as others, is our right and our responsibility. This love removes the obstacles to direct healing.

When seeking energy healing, be sure the therapist you choose understands these concepts well enough to help you become aware of what is causing obstruction in your energy.

Your instincts and intuition guide the therapist so that with your cooperation, healing is accomplished on an energetic level. Let the therapist relax you and guide you to your inner self as a way to self-forgiveness and self-love. This opens the door to healing, to creating laughter and relaxation in place of conflict and tension.

We choose our reactions to life experiences through learned and inherited behaviors. Energy work offers us an avenue to new awareness, relaxation and a path to more abundant energetic health.
