What is Ajna?

Ajna is a Sanskrit word which refers to the third eye.The third eye point is on the forehead, two finger widths above the bridge of the nose. Some people wear a colored dot on their forehead called a bindi at the third eye point. But this surface definition isn't really sufficient. Phisiologically, the Ajna is associated with the pituitary gland which is nestled under the brain – the pituitary acts as an interface between the endocrine system and the central nervous system.

Yet the Ajna really isn't simply a physical manifestation. As the sixth chakra, it exists both in the physical body and the subtle body. It's more or less an interface between the seen and unseen, the manifest and unmanifest.

To feed your intellect regarding Ajna we recommend a web search or books on yoga and chakras. To really learn about Ajna we highly recommend meditation. Repeated regular meditation.

Why the name Ajna Press?

The founder of Ajna Press was originally going to name the company Saguaro Press, yet it was recommended (by the Arizona Corporation Commission) that a different name be chosen. We had been using saguaropress.com for a while and were already receiving mail under that name. We needed a new name fast because we were planning on publishing books in the Mystics Guide the the Universe series right away.

Almost in a flash, the name Ajna Press came to mind. We registered Ajna Press, Inc. as a corporation, obtained an ISBN prefix and almost published a book in the same month – December 2001. Then the publishing of those books was delayed.

In the study of certain yoga practices, focus on the third eye with the other two eyes during meditation puts a certain stress on the optic nerve. Prolonged and repeated focus on the Ajna can create a sensation of opening of the third eye. Thus the exercise of focusing on the third eye is essentially an ajna press. Ajna Press™ is the name of the publishing branch of Werner Training and Consulting, Inc. We strive to help people open their consciousness by publishing works which reconnect us with our intuition and open the door to divine knowledge.

What happened to the eyes?

We've changed our entry page for the web site – perhaps the old one scared some people off? If you want to see the old image, it's still available.

By the way, those eyes are taken from a photo of one of our feline friends, and the ajna symbol is a photo of a medalion we found in our travels.
